In conclusion pride can mean many things and can be shown in many ways. At some point we may be humble. On our way there it may be be more difficult. The concept of pride is like a explantion of how theuniverse started.
Blood may be thicker than water, but pride can be thicker than both blood and water. Pride can be life or death. Pride can be good or bad. Shame is a powerful emotion that leads people to do things absentmindedly, that could lead to dreadful outcomes. In James Hurst’s “The Scarlet Ibis” Doodle is a disabled child that can not do things that others can do easily. Brother tries to shape Doodle into a regular kid, which ends badly. When Doodle doesn't improve at as fast as his brother wants him to, he only pushes him harder. Brothers sense of shame leads to Doodle being pushed too hard and eventually dying.

To start, Hurst’s use of imagery shows how the cripple brother portrayed in the story is shown to be treated by his brother who is ashamed of him. The author uses imagery to show how the brother was born as a cripple and could not walk and wasn’t shown to be anything more than that. His brother, the point of view in the story, was ashamed of the brother and didn’t want to be known for having a crippled brother.
