Abraham LIncoln was the 16th president of the united states and served as president during the Civil war. On November 6, 1860 Lincoln won the presidential election and not one person in the South voted for him. Lot’s of states talked of secession after Lincoln became president and the election was one on the primary reasons the Civil war Happened. The Civil war basically started when the South did not let the confederates restock Fort Sumter after Lincoln told them to, there was a 34 hour battle until finally the federal defenders had to surrender. During the war Lincoln had trouble finding good generals for his armies. Lincoln told his famous Emancipation Proclamation January 1, 1863. In 1864 Lincoln ran for president again scared he would
