Primate Social Groups

160 Words1 Pages
Primates have less children than most other mammals, allowing them more time to make sure the child survives, learns and adapts. Females can spend more time teaching, taking care of and feeding them. These mammals then become much smarter and well prepared for the world.

There are several different social groups within a primate group. Including: groups with single females and offspring, male groups with several females, polyandrous family groups and multi males with multi females. A group with more members is bound to have a better food supply because there are more people to gather food. They would also be able to reproduce more than a group with less people and with less females. Groups with more will have more food and more offspring.
