Prince. An icon. An idol. A legend. One of the greatest musicians of all time, he forever changed modern music, influenced the music industry, and definitely made his mark on the world. In this article, I’ll be writing about Prince’s life, and his impact on us.

So how does an ordinary boy like Prince become one of the best musicians of all time? Truth be told, he never was an ordinary boy, he was always a prodigy. At an early age, he taught himself how to play the piano, drums, and guitar, with no help from anyone else. In high school, Prince formed his first band, Grand Central, which was later called Champagne, but his career really never took off until 1978, when he signed with Warner Bros. Records.

Even though his songs were very controversial, they were also very inspiring. Had his drive and determination not been stronger than the restraints of the media, music wouldn’t have morphed into what it is today. His sound echoes in the background of Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake’s songs, of Madonna’s lyrics, and of every hip hop beat there is.

His willpower, independence, and stubbornness also set him apart. When Prince didn’t get what he wanted, he made sure he did later on. Even at an early age, his independence showed, especially when he ran away. But it was later on, that it really came out. When he played all 27 instruments on his album, sang all of his backup vocals, and worked harder than we thought possible, it was then that we knew how determined Prince was. It was this determination that also inspired many artists and helped them become who they wanted to be.

All in all, Prince was one of a kind. His music, his talent, and his vision can never be replaced and will always have a special place in our heart. He was an idol for many people, and will continue to be. He will continue to inspire, determine, and fortify artists right now, and more artists to come. Though he may be gone, his legend is not.
