Tangerine is a book, written by Edward Bloor, that have used growth, friendship, and secrets. In the book, there is a 12 years-old boy, called Paul Fisher, and he had lived in a life of secrets. Since, Paul moved a new home in Tangerine, Florida, and to a new school. He had made a lot of new friends. However, he have been getting flashbacks about his past life and have wondered, why is he wearing goggle/glasses.
Why do authors use symbolism in their writing? Symbolism is the use of symbols to represent ideas. They also an expression designed to call something to mind without mentioning it explicitly ; allusion. Allusions can be another form of symbolism from time to time. We can find examples of these two in The Lottery ,Harrison Bergeron and 2 B R 0 2 B .
Edward Bloor’s use of literary devices in the novel, Tangerine gives humongous description to Paul’s surroundings in Tangerine County. The metaphors and similes provides details that help create a mental image in your head as well as additional sensory details on what is happening in the novel. Additional figurative language might also give one clues that will help determine what might happen in the future otherwise known as foreshadowing. For example,

5. Johnson discusses “privilege as paradox” to explain that being identified as individuals of the privileged group doesn’t really say much about who they are individually as a person. People are treated with privilege because others have a perception that they are associated with those particular groups and social categories. The main character, Jess, meets a wonderful girl named Leslie. Throughout the book, she changed his opinion of imagination, and he fell in love with her. Soon following this, they experience a fallout. Throughout the novel, Patterson displays themes of significant tragedy, grief because of the people stressing the tragedy, and the quest for identity.
The theme of marginalization in society and how it has impacted on people’s lives is a significant theme for all. Marginalization is where a certain group of people are treated differently than others due to their race, gender or beliefs. The marginalized are not usually considered “main stream”, which means to have the power in society, and thus have no say in how you are treated.
