Intro: Each day, a ticking time bomb, you never know when it’ll explode. You see others bomb explode yet you’re still here. Maybe luck is on your side. Maybe one day you’ll be heard. Maybe, today is the day. No one wants to die, especially not if they know it’s coming but don’t know when. The death penalty is a punishment that violates the eighth amendment in the US constitution, by being a cruel and unusual punishment. There are many pieces of evidences proving this point and it inclueds: the different methods of exocution, how race plays a part, and specific examples of people. One person in particular is Ricky Jackson, in 1975 he weas wronfully accused of murdering Harold Franks a businessman. The police got a hold of a testimony from a 12 year old boy andwas sentenced to death. Around (2011) a magazine published became suspisous of the case because of some details that were (inadequate). After going back to the 12 year old kid almost 40 years later, he admited to being threatened by the police to say that he saw everything occur. And after 39 years on death row Ricky Jackson was freed. There’ve been more than one cases like this, its a unjust way of the law that is all about the truth and finding out the truth. Because in the end, the wrongful person is in jail, and the murderer is still out there. Not only have there been cases of wrongly accussing people there are also cases of torturous ways of being put to death. One example is Joseph R. Wood he was put on death row for killing his girlfriend nd her father in 1991. His punishment was getting electrocuted, and it took around two hours to be killed, in which he suffered a lot.
