One of the biggest and most underrated global issue is pollution. Pollution affects our everyday lives and our future. It causes diseases, acid rain, wildlife, and much more. It is occasionally mentioned in debates and news articles but Trump, North Korea and celebrities are almost always the ones featured in the news.
One severe effect of global warming is health issues. “Millions of Americans live in areas where urban, smog, particle pollution, and toxic pollutants pose serious health concerns”, (Health and Environmental effects of Air Pollution). This means that many Americans are experiencing side effects of pollution like irritation of the throat and eyes, breathing problems, heart and lung conditions, asthma, heart attacks, cancer, and death. All of this is because of us releasing chemicals and other pollutants in the air.

“Studies show that air toxics are contributing to birth defects, reproductive failure, and diseases in animals”, (Health and Environmental effects of Air Pollution). Ignorant people may think ,”So what, I'm still living”, but the death of wildlife affects humans as well because we eat wildlife and if we didn't have them we would die. Toxic air pollutants rest and accumulate on animals skin and the concentration of it is much higher than water.
Ozone depletion ,another effect of pollution, means that the ozone layer in the stratosphere is thinning out. “ In the stratosphere the ozone forms a layer that protects life on earth from the sun's harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays. But this "good" ozone is gradually being destroyed by man-made chemicals referred to as ozone-depleting substances, including chlorofluorocarbons, hydrochlorofluorocarbons, and halons”, (Health and Environmental effects of Air Pollution). This means that the sun's radiation will now shine directly on us causing skin cancer, crop damage, and immune
