Through the use of structure Douglas is able to conceive that idea that slave owners are not only bad people but have no feelings toward blacks. They will do whatever they please even if that action is morally wrong and undeserving. Douglas begins by telling about his grandmother being a victim of these awful slave owners. He begins by explaining how his grandmother was a loyal slave from young to old and “she had been the source of all [her masters] wealth” (395). By beginning with the positive aspects of his grandmother Douglas makes one grow a liking for her.
Why did Fredrick Douglas despise slavery? Fredrick Douglas, an African American that has an abundance of history with slavery and torment. Without reading this I wouldn’t have learned how cruel slavery actually was, and how enslavers stole people from their homes, and how he wished to be an animal. The Immorality of slavery is gruesome to many eyes. Though, people still want to rule over other people for various arrogant reasons.
Fredrick Douglas and William Garrison were a part of the abolitionist movement because they fought for the slave to be free and to have independence. Fredrick Douglas wrote three autobiographies about his life and slavery in America. Fredrick Douglas was a runaway slave his self and he sought that he should help other slaves’ runaway as well. A literate slave, Douglas started his speaking career in 1841, when he delivered some extemporaneous remarks on his experience as a slave at an Massachusetts antislavery convention (Shmoop Fredrick).
It wasn't right in Fredrick's eyes that his own kind could be bought or sold also it wasn't right slaves had lower wages than the plantation owners. African Americans had limited clothing and could be punished just for not listening and as you could imagine Fredrick Douglas couldn't stand for it there was no way so he continued to fight for what he believed. Fredrick Douglas was well known and liked for acting against slavery and for writing an autobiography and new paper and recruiting African Americans to fight in a war his willingness to fight for what was right and what he believes in was truly one of the most amazing things Fredrick Douglas ever did. The autobiography he had written about in 1845 is called the narrative of Fredrick Douglass his novel included details of everyone including names and places of where he was
Chapter 1 Argument Analysis & Reflection What is an argument made in this chapter? Douglas claims to argue about how brutal slavery is and how severely people were treated. He uses his explanations with perfect examples and stories to help illustrate his original point of view. He then discusses the importance of education in his escape from slavery.
Tensions rose across the country from those in support support of slavery and those opposed. Many states wanted to outlaw slavery while others adamantly defended it because it was the main institution with a high and consistent revenue. Ultimately, the disagreements over slavery are what lead to the Civil War. The country divided into an “Us versus Them” situation which lead to both sides having growing support for their views and making the groups less susceptible to an agreement. In 1862, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves from confederate states.
Most of his time was in the movement of the abolition of slavery. He did not want any other black person to face brutality, humiliation, and pain. His arguments became very useful in the anti-slavery movement. It is through his experiences of being a slave that he urged for the abolition of slavery (Douglass, 1845). Douglass’ style of narration makes the reader to be involved in the story emotionally.
He says at the beginning that he wants to free all the slaves, and send them to Liberia. The only problem that he believes is that there`s no enough money to send all the slaves to Liberia. He brings up the idea of the system of gradual emancipation and that it may actually be a good idea since most of the white people will not agree on setting the slaves free. Douglas pretty much says that Lincoln is against the decision of Dred Scott and the rights and privileges of slaves.
It’s what this nation needs to live and survive Let’s not stop slavery but let’s not make it spread into the west either. What Mr. Douglas thinks is not what I think. We need the slaves to do what we need to. Especially

Douglass argues that slavery has a horrible effect and it is a bad thing. One piece of evidence is when in excerpt 3 paragraph 3 the text states that ¨Mr. Covey gave us enough to eat, but scarce time to eat it.¨ Another piece of evidence is in excerpt 4 paragraph 12 ¨Causing blood to run where I touched him with the ends of my fingers.¨ This shows that slavery is a thing that can cause pain and has a horrible effect on slaves. This disproves people who believed that was a good thing because this shows that someone can get hurt when they are enslaved.
Douglass was tired of his master taking control over him, so he fought back against slavery. Douglass tries to prove the point of anti-slavery and racial arguments, relating to the Scientific

Douglass’s position differ from those who supported slavery is that people who supported slavery, they thought it was a natural thing to do because on the Document “ Slavery a positive Good” on paragraph 1 it says, “ To maintain the existing relations between two races, inhabiting that section of the Union, is indispensable to the peace and happiness of both…. But let me not be understood as admitting, even by implication, that the existing relations between two races in the slaveholding states is an evil: - far otherwise; I hold to be good, as it has thus far proved itself both, and will continue to prove so if not disturbed by the fell spirit of abolition.” What this piece of evidence is saying is that slavery is a good thing and not a bad thing and that abolition should stop. Another way that Frederick Douglass’s position is different from people that support is that people who support slavery is that the people who support slavery has a different perspective of what is right and what is wrong because on the Document “ Slavery a Positive Good” paragraph 2 it says,” I hold in the present state of civilization, where two races of different origin, and distinguished by color, and other physical differences, as well as intellectual, are brought together, the relation now existing in the slaveholding States between the two is, instead of an evil, a good- a positive good… I hold then, that
Only three percent of the international slave trade arrived in the new colonies. Many African was sold into slavery because their family owed a debt and they had no other means to pay for it. Sometimes an individual voluntarily enter into a service contract, so they can pay off debt. Furthermore the individual would work for a specified period then eventually gain their freedom. When the first Africans slaves came to the new colonies they operated under a similar arrangement.
