Prop 56 Argument Analysis

In my first semester of senior year I grew as an academic student in college and career readiness with my two class thesis paper on Prop 56. There's no other way to celebrate election year than writing a 6-8 page thesis paper. I chose to write my paper on Proposition 56, which was about raising tobacco taxes by $2.87. The money will be going to schools, doctors, hospitals and clinics. I gained the skills of citation, evidence, and research. Never in my 3 years of VISA have I faced a more difficult assignment or paper to write than my Prop. 56 thesis paper. As we were getting prepared for our joint class thesis paper Ms. Defranco assigned us to go out and speak to 3 random people about my proposition and why they should vote yes. We had to be recorded when speaking to the audience member. I was out in front of Baskin Robbins asking people if I can talk to them about prop. 56. It was more difficult than what I initially thought it would be like. I was ignored and rejected by lots and lots of people but that didn't stop me from trying to get my vote opinion passed on. I did end up talking to two people that were close to my age about 16-18 years old. Adults didn't really look interested, I think it was because I was giving the same first impression as a guy who hands out flyers. I learned that I had to approach people in different ways depending on what the first impressions that I get from them. I also gave the speech to a some random soccer coach at my tournament, which was cool because is was to a person way far out of our community. The speech that we had to give was called an escalator speech or pitch. That means that it has to be short and straight to point. I had to speak about all the pros that the proposition would bring and the cons that the proposition gives if voted no. The speech was about 15-30 seconds, which is equivalent or close to the time of being on an escalator, which is why it is called an escalator speech. It was pretty difficult to get all
