Addiction is a significant problem in the U.S. today, affecting millions of people and causing widespread harm to individuals and society as a whole. While addiction can have many causes, two of the primary factors are technology and family. The effects of addiction can have devastating consequences for individuals, families, and society. Addiction can lead to health problems, financial ruin, and social isolation. Addiction can cause detrimental effects on individuals' mental, physical, and social well-being, leading to increased morbidity and mortality rates (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2019). Despite various interventions aimed at reducing the prevalence of addiction, the problem persists, indicating the need for more effective solutions. This essay proposes that the most effective ways to address the problem of addiction are to incorporate holistic and evidence-based approaches.

Combining Holistic and Evidence-Based Approaches While both the holistic and evidence-based approaches to addiction treatment have their merits, combining the two can lead to a more comprehensive and effective approach. By incorporating both approaches, individuals can receive a tailored treatment plan that addresses all aspects of their addiction and promotes overall well-being.
For instance, incorporating CBT and MI can help individuals address their psychological and behavioral factors associated with addiction, while yoga and meditation can promote stress management and relaxation (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 2019; Miller & Rollnick, 2012).
