Both Nell Irvin Painter and Kristin L. Hoganson have two different prospective on the annexation of the Philippines. Painter’s approach of explaining the annexation was more of an economic view rather then Hoganson’s, which was a more sexiest view. An example of Painter’s view is when he said,” the culprit, it seemed, was agricultural and industrial overproduction” (Painter). Andrew Johnson became the President of the United States after the assassination of President Lincoln. Johnson stepped into office after the Civil War, which was a fragile time for the country. As president after the war, it was Johnson’s duty to assist in unifying the southern slave states and the northern rebellious population, as one country. This was a difficult task to complete, especially after the assassination of a former president who really helped in the Civil War and with slavery. Johnson tried to quickly restore the states in the Union, however his actions lead to a presidential impeachment.

An imperial presidency is scary and enormously dangerous because it gives one person the unequivocal power to rule over a country. For a long time across many different political science fields, people have studied whether or not an imperial presidency is achievable, including most recently Harvard law professor Jack Goldsmith. After nearly fifty days in the White House, President Trump has done an excellent job. On his second day in office he vowed to destroy the Islamic State, and on his ninth day he fulfilled his promise of a 5 year-ban on officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government, and a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government, which was a promise kept. I couldn't verbally express at this point because depends upon factors of which we ken nothing: the genuine candidates, the condition of the economy, the state of the world. As others have noted history gives the opposition party an edge. People incline to tire of a two-term president and his party toward the cessation of his tenure. The best one can verbalize of Obama is that his record is commixed. The United States of the early 20th century was one with a booming economy and a hunger for power. They had expanded westward and were looking to continue to expand their territory across the seas, in order to assert their dominance as a global superpower among the powerful nations of the time. The poor relations between Cubans and their Spanish rulers eventually led to the Treaty of Paris, which is when Spain surrendered the Philippines to the United States. It was at this point that another major divide between the American people was created. Many Americans believed that attempting to gain power over as many territories as possible was a bad idea and one that went against what America was built on.
Macro social work promotes human development and social justice through work with communities and organizations.
