There was once a very small school outside of Chicago. This was a very typical school very nice teachers, and respectable students, or so everybody in the community thought. This school had one unarmed security guard and he was there to help with the bullying problem, but the state law would not allow him to carry a firearm. So the school year came to an end and all the children were approaching their last couple days of school when this happy little town had one of the darkest days in it’s history. What had happened was there was one little boy who was being picked constantly at school for his lack of size and he constantly tried to tell the guard about it, but since it was only verbal abuse the guard did nothing. Having armed officers in the schools can be more beneficial than you think:if the students hear a threat of any sort or feel as if bad things will happen, then they will know exactly who to tell: just having the officer on the campus could alter the idea of even thinking about causing harm to the school; also having the gunman on the campus would save critical time, rather than waiting for a 9-1-1 call to go through.(Newton 1) The pros of the school grounds having armed security highly outweigh the cons. It is a proven statistic that guns are used 2.5 million times in one year as a form of self-defense. That is 6,850 a day that guns help prevent injury, or even death, meaning guns are used more than 80 times more to protect lives rather than take lives. Also of the 2.5 million times a gun is used only 8% of the time does it result in someone being injured or killed, people are simply using firearms as a source of intimidation. These people are firing warning shots which is enough to send these criminals running. So doesn’t it make sense to put these guns in the schools as long as the government makes sure they are putting them in the hands of the right
