Should Artificial Intelligence Be Continued To Be Developed?
This quote by James Comey depicts just how far technology has come and how well it has integrated into our lives. Over the last decade, technology has done nothing but advance, and people, especially teenagers, have become very accustomed to using it in their everyday lives. Gadgets such as cars, phones, and computers have all been created over time to make our lives easier and more efficient. But lately, tech creators have switched their traditional view from building faster, lighter, and more powerful gadgets to try and create a piece of tech that learns all by itself. This is known as Artificial Intelligence, or AI, and it is gaining a great reputation in many scientific fields.

They happen everywhere and they happen all the time, but technology is helping us in reduce the frequency. As stated, human errors happen everywhere, but different places have bigger consequences than others. If a mistake occurs in the safety of your home, to a certain degree, it can have little to no effect on your life. If that same mistake occurred in an airplane part manufacturer than the effects would be catastrophic. Therefore using advanced technology (AI) to help us in reducing these errors could be considered a breakthrough in technology by many. According to America’s Unions, “In 2014, 4,821 people died because of workplace related mistakes and errors. And that number is subjected to double by 2018.”. This number gives you an insight as to why artificial intelligence is needed in future workplaces. With that number expected to double this year, it is safe to say that our standard MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) will not cut it and we need to be looking for alternatives. Keep in mind that number is in America only and American workers have the right to say no to performing dangerous tasks and have unions protecting them. Since many undeveloped countries do not have workers rights, you can expect their number to be much higher. This is the main reason why technology must be developed quickly to prevent these types of deaths from occuring. The difference between present day technology and artificial intelligence is the fact that technology is human made and programmed by humans. Often times, mistakes happen within the technology itself for a variety of different reasons. The coder can make errors when specifying, designing, implementing, installing, commissioning and maintaining systems as well as operating. On the other hand, artificial intelligence educates itself on everything it needs to do to perform the tasks needed of it. In essence, the time and money invested into the development of artificial intelligence can reduce the
