In the year 2038, we will have self-driving cars, virtual reality theme parks, and designer babies. Twenty years from now when you decide to start your family you will face a major ultimatum, whether or not to have your future child genetically modified. As a parent to be you decide on the genes of your child that you want to enhance and the gens that you want to delete.
You can choose the gender of your child, their hair color, upgrade their intelligence, and enhance their athletic ability. There is now a whole generation of genetically modified children that are favored over “natural” children. In the future, the world will be filled with identical “perfect” genetically modified children. This elite generation will be favored even though they have increased aggressiveness and narcissistic tendencies. On the other side of the spectrum are non-genetically modified children who are looked down upon in society. These children will face extreme inequality and discrimination because they aren’t enhanced to be the best they can be. Society will be more divided than it ever has. This is what the future could look like if genetic modification of human embryos is authorized.

Humans have a lot of limitations when it comes to aging and physical abilities. Gene editing would allow scientists to increase cognitive capabilities and change the way people live. Gene editing also has the power to eliminate genetic diseases.
