Illegal Immigration: Positive or Negative? For many years, people from Mexico and South America, and other places around the world, have been illegally jumping the U.S. border, without any documentation. The debate on whether America should close our borders or keep them open has been a topic that has been argued from both sides for years. About 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants reside in the U.S. right now. Many of these immigrants come across the border down by Arizona and New Mexico, that separates the U.S. and Mexico. These immigrants may not seem like a problem to many of the people living in the U.S. right now, but to me, they can pose an issue, even if it's not intentional. The border is not strictly enforced, and I feel we need to enforce it more and put in a fair and efficient system for letting immigrants into our …show more content…

Do we really think it's okay to have felons living with us? On July 1 of 2015, a woman was shot in San Francisco by an illegal immigrant. The man had a criminal past, and had been deported before, but he kept getting back in. "The man accused of firing the deadly shot -- 45-year-old Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez -- is an undocumented immigrant, a repeat felon who has been deported five times to Mexico, according to immigration officials." This quote by CNN shows that it is easy for criminals to get into our country illegally. Many politicians also infer that there are many terrorists living with us, or even members of ISIS. This is extremely possible, as no one is trying to stop them from getting in. For the safety of you and I, we need to make sure anyone who is coming in is not a threat, which isn't being done right
