Should The US Have Let In More Jewish Immigrants? One big controversy of WW2 is pondering the question, should the US have let in more Jewish immigrants? First, let’s look at the background of the situation. Hitler was throwing lots of people into concentration camps in Europe and the Jews were his main focus. Due to Hitler targeting the Jews there was a flood of Jewish immigrants everywhere. Some refugees were let into the US but soon many wanted the doors closed. In this essay we will look at the pros and cons of letting more immigrants into the US and then I'll share my opinion on the situation. First, let's look at the pros of letting Jewish immigrants into the US. The first and most obvious pro is that the US would be saving lots of lives by letting Jewish refugees into the US. By letting Jews into the US the US would also be helping the war a little bit but a big hero role. I say it only helped the war a little bit, which is a good thing, because taking away what Hitler was targeting would have been a little blow but probably wouldn’t have stopped the war. One of the biggest things was the US really wanted to stay neutral and letting refugees in would have put a target on the US by not being on Hitlers side. Another con was that the Great Depression was going on and the government and citizens didn’t want the immigrants to take the jobs that were “the US citizens right”.
