Introduction After the occurrence of a sequence of larceny in the neighborhood my boss decided to post a rather disturbing sign in the window. The sign states, “Any officer of the law who shoots and kill one of these criminals will receive a $5,000 reward.” When I first saw the sign, I laughed and thought to myself, “that ought to keep those crooks away.” Later on in the day I changed my position about the statement. I began wondering if there were any laws against posting such a statement. Also, how would the consumers respond to the sign? So, I decided to address my concerns with my boss.
