For the longest time, people have put age barriers on kids. When legal ages have been put, people didn't know when a person actually fully matures. Now what comes to mind, that if people don’t actually know when one becomes an adult, should the age of adulthood be raised or lowered? Many scientific studies showed that some areas of a human’s brain, don’t fully mature until their mid-20s, yet other areas already reached the level of matureness at the age of 16. Everyone knows that in most countries the legal age of consumption of alcohol and driving (not at the same time) has been 18. Everything comes at 18, the ability to drive, to drink, to vote, to live on your own, to pay taxes, to be able to join the army. That is just very overwhelming for any human. Let’s start of with the risky things that are legally available for the adult. They are finally able to go to a bar and are able to buy a drink. They can finally drive, and that is also a problem that can interfere with the alcohol consumption, because both are so new to the person. Some people might love alcohol some might not; so it won't be a problem for the alcohol non lovers, but for the ones that try it and enjoy it, it is risky. They will drink whenever they can, no one to control them and tell them that they are getting far over their head, they run in unpleasant circles, forget about education or jobs and become addicted and usually in dept. That is not a pleasant picture, so for that not to happen the legal age might be lowered to the age of 16. It is reasonable, the person can get a taste of alcohol, under the parent’s control; so there is someone who is watching over them, who doesn’t them drink way too much and who keeps them under control. Isn’t it better it to introduce them to alcohol gently so they don’t overdo it later on? Although some studies showed that teenage heavy drinkers might face problems with bone density, growth, hormone development and liver function, and effect on their brain’s memory. As said before human bodies keep growing until mid-20s, so is that a reason to not let people younger than that drink?
