Should the Federal Minimum Wage Be Increased?
Salary is one of the most discussed subject of all the time in the economy of the U.S.
People work on an organization and expect to receive a monetary compensation for the work executed. However, how much could the employee be paid for what he/she does? it’s the part of our main topic in this subject. I found helpful the introductory information about the countries identified with the highest levels of income inequality. Different countries, with different beliefs and cultures as well as different economy infrastructure. A helpful information at the end of this view is the statement from the chairman of former president Obama and the PhD Isabel Sawhill about the effect of increasing the minimum wage and the reduction of income inequality. None of these statements are properly supported by a scientific study which helped me supporting my position.
What would I notice if I believed this view?
One of the things I would notice if I believe this view is the fact that increasing minimum wage means providing more economic resources to people so they can afford what other people with higher salary can. However, this is not a true statement because giving more money to someone that struggle to identify priorities and manage irresponsibly their income, doesn’t guarantee an improvement in the existing inequality. Something that’s trues is that always have been individuals that are paid extraordinarily high if compared with other people that probably work on dangerous activities or simply perform a different type of
