The intent of this game is for each team to send the ball over the net to ground it on the opponent's court, and to prevent the ball from being grounded on its own court while increasing the number of hits by one hit each time each time the ball crosses the net. Offensively, athletes may use several tactics to score. Serve placement is a good offensive tactic to use in this game. The server wants to find an unprotected or hard to reach space to ground the ball. If you are playing against a passer that is short, serve deep. If you are playing against a passer that is tall, serve short. Another offensive tactic is passing. This involves passing the ball in such a way that the setter will have time to get there to set any available attackers. The passer should be ready to react and move to the ball. The sooner he gets into position the better is his judgement and more accurate the pass. Also, timing with the setter may require a higher pass to give him time to get into place or a lower pass to move the ball in a quick attack on the defenders. It is called this because the striker is not part of a team. This is a game of individuals. The intent of the game is for the striker to hit the ball and touch as many bases as he can before he is tagged out or reaches home receiving one point for each base he touches. Conversely, the players in the field attempt to tag the striker out as quick as possible to prevent him from scoring points. The striker continues scoring points and rebating until he strikes out or is tagged out and then the field positions rotate until everyone strikes. The cat with the most points wins. A good offence tactic is to know your opposition. Know who is fast getting to the ball, and who has a good or weak arm. This will allow the striker to place his hit strategically to give himself the best chance of scoring points. Another tactic is to find the hole. If the fielders are playing deep or short or shifted to one side or the other, find the hole and attempt to hit to that location to give time for touching more bases. Defensive shift is a defensive tactic when batters are consistent with where they like to hit the ball. Anticipating where the ball is coming and tightening defensive players to that area will decrease the amount of points scored. Similarly, backing up one another is a valuable defense tactic. In most games a few batted balls inevitably get by the fielders; however, a bad throw to third isn’t critical unless no one is there to back
