There has recently been an ongoing debate on whether or not college should be costless to everyone in the United States. The article, “Should College be Free? Pros, Cons, and Alternatives,” presents both the views of the proponents and opponents of this argument; likewise, it also features a few ways of compromise. The opponents of free college claim that there is an inevitable connection between free college and detrimental ramifications to both the economy and national education. However, although the opponents present very appalling information, the proponents excellently refute these statements by the provision of evidence and statistics. Upon deeply analyzing and considering points featured by both the proponents and opponents, it is evident that college should be free to everyone in the United States. To begin, the author starts to prove that free college could have a substantial impact on the economy by opening up the chasing of people’s dreams. The author says that students “would have more freedom to contribute to their talents, try new ideas, and pursue the lives they want if they didn’t have to start off in debt or stay stuck in a low-wage job.” (Cite) This marvelously proves that free college would cause a prospering nation because people could finally chase their dreams instead of staying with their low income jobs. These people could ultimately be placed into a higher income job without the worry of being in debt. Since “people tend to spend more money when they have higher incomes and little or no debt” (Cite), the economy would most definitely flourish as these individuals would not have to worry about paying back money loaned for college, and
