John George Haigh, A man of many epithets, was a well-dressed, middle class man with a surplus of charm. Using his power of charismatic seduction, combined with the motivation of money, Haigh murdered and dissolved his victims in a bath of sulfuric acid, after he drank their blood (Crime& Investigation, 2015). He was meticulous in his killings; he believed he was untouchable, without a body or any physical evidence, it would be impossible for him to get caught. In the end, his arrogance lead to his downfall.
Green Acres’s grounds are very lush and green with lots of bushes and very large, shady trees. Everything appears to be very well kept up, with some areas even giving me a “golf-course” like vibe.
In the 1820s was a period known as the Industrial Revolution. Alexander Hamilton wrote the Report on Manufacturers in 1791 that gave the idea that women and children could be used as cheap labor. Thus, in the 1820s factories in New England started to hire women and children for only three dollars per week (Women in the Early Industrial Revolution ). Three dollars a week does not seem like much however, many of these women worked on farms were they did not earn that much money. Money was not the only thing that persuaded these women to begin working in factories.
The principle of social equity concerns the consequences of decisions and actions that people face. Particular emphasis is placed on equity in access to water resources and derived benefits. This concerns all social groups irrespective of their economic status, geographic location, and individual characteristics of their members, such as differences in sex, age, and health status or income level. The principle of economic efficiency refers to the need to use resources in the most cost-effective way to maximize returns on value and thus achieve the greatest benefit for the greatest number of people. This value is not only calculated in terms of price; It must also include current and future social and environmental costs and benefits.
When someone thinks about Vermont, they more often than not imagine a sort of rural paradise. Isolated from most of the world, the Green Mountain State that many a person calls their home grew at its own pace, even when the rest of America changed with the times. Even in 1945, when American G.I.s were coming back from World War II, they likened “peaceful Vermont [as] the perfect antithesis of the horrors of war” and an “agricultural paradise” (Jan Albers; Hands on the Land: A History of the Vermont Landscape; pp. 274). An ideal that exists even in the modern times, as it is believed that Vermont has a thriving agricultural economy. But that was back then, as America was coming back from the war.
But are non-native species always harmful? In the northeastern USA, the dominant earthworms arose from non-native species in the nineteenth century; they have enriched the soil. Invasive Species Invasive, alien species, those which colonise, expand and out compete native species (Smith & Smith, 2009), are a major threat to our habitats, terrestrial and aquatic species, and biodiversity. Agricultural and leisure industries are affected as well as conservation welfare and the continued wellbeing of man, flora and fauna. Whole ecosystems can be distorted and the economic cost of awareness, prevention and eradication systems is substantial. Most invasive species have been introduced by mandeliberately or otherwise. As an island, Ireland has been subjected to less invasive species than larger nearby land masses e.g. Europe, but islands have a less diverse species population and are therefore more vulnerable when invaded.

The Positive Effects of Community Gardens Imagine a garden in every community in your hometown, free fruits and vegetables available to all your neighbors. No need to run to the grocery store to purchase produce shipped in from all corners of the world. When feeling stressed people could just walk down the street and contribute to the garden or sit among the fruit trees and read a book. How much money do you think one family can save from participating? What about thousands of families?
Securitization of the environment, or anything for that matter, changes the instruments and the people who use these instruments available to deal with the new security threat. These personnel usually take the form of the long entrusted state security actor; the military. Environmentalists have long protested the linkage of the environment and security, arguing environmental security directly refers to the military’s capacity to apply themselves to the ocean of environmental issues. The purpose of most militaries is to fight wars and in doing so they incur devastating consequences for people and the environment. Contrast this with the environmental movement efforts to achieve sustainable life and peace.
Wildlife Conservation is often seen as a bad thing, but if you look at it from my perspective, then it is actually a good thing. People think of it as holding wild animals captive, but we are actually protecting them from poachers. The purpose of Wildlife Conservation is to protect the animals in danger, which I am in agreement 110%. Other people argue that we shouldn’t have conservations, but they don’t know the harm that can happen to unprotected animals.
