Prompt: What is the cause of the paralysing inaction that plagues both Hamlet and Prufrock?
In prufrock and Hamlet, fear is what plagues them both and keeps them from acting. Have you ever feared? In the early parts of Hamlet, Hamlet thought the ghost may have not been real when he first saw the peculiar thing. He also thought that the ghost may try to lead him to do something bad that would ruin his soul. Hamlet felt wrongful action about killing claudius. Prufrock can relate to Hamlet in the state of fearing. Prufrock feared that the girl he liked wouldn 't like him back because of the way the he looked and his age. Prufrock feared did indeed fear in his poem. “The Lovesong of J. Alfred Prufrock”. Prufrock really liked this one girl that he talked about in his poem a lot. He liked her so much that he wanted to be with her, but he didn 't really know if she would go for him. Prufrock didn 't really know because of his appearance he stated that he keeps growing and growing old each day. Prufrock also stated that he had a bald spot on the top of his head and his hair keeps getting thine. This one reason why Prufrock feared in his poem, because he liked this girl and he didn 't know if she liked him back because of appearance and age. Most people would say that in Hamlet and Prufrock, loneliness is what plagues the characters from acting. Hamlet didn 't feel lonely much in is play really until what happened to his father, but he really didn 't feel lonely about killing Claudius either. Prufrock would be best fit for the term lonely because of his situation. Prufrock really felt lonely because he didn 't really think that he looked good at all because of his apperance of his age and his hair wasn 't really good he thought because of the bald spot he had.
