Gamers buy consoles to play games on them. Microsoft put most of their effort into making the Xbox One an all-in-one entertainment system, drifting away from the key focus of gaming. This was one of the main reasons the Xbox One struggled at launch, that and the forced inclusion of the Kinect 2 which nobody really wanted to buy.
Getting down to the specifications of both consoles, it’s undeniable that they both blow their predecessors out of the water. Both the PS4 and Xbox One have an AMD 8-core CPU under their hoods. Although both are similar, the Xbox One has 1.75GHz while the PS4 has 1.6GHz. This means a 10% increase in processing power for the Xbox One, but tides turn when we look at the graphics processor.
The PS4 has a whopping 1.84 teraflop GPU compared to the 1.31 teraflop GPU of the Xbox One. Both GPU’s are based on AMD's Radeon technology. Both consoles have a hearty 8GB of RAM. While each console has some RAM reserved for their operating systems, the major difference is that the PS4 has the faster GDDR5 memory compared to the slower DDR3 memory found in the Xbox One.
