I am a graduating senior with a psychology major who has presented research at the Alabama Academy of Science on two separate occasions (a poster in 2017 and part of a paper in 2018). In my free time I like to read, fish, walk, and observe my pets. I have one cat, one snail, two dogs, and five fish). I have always been fascinated with human and animal behaviors. I always found myself drawn to books, movies, and television programs that explores the mind and behaviors of all living organisms. Once I discovered that my interests were in the field of Psychology, there was no turning back. As a result, I decided to go to college to gain more knowledge of the subject. I was exposed to the different fields of psychology, but the few I enjoyed the most were social, abnormal, and learning and motivation. I first discovered my love for research when I did a survey on road rage for my senior project, which did not produce significant results. Afterwards, I took the research lab practicum twice to gain more experience and then volunteered shortly afterwards. Eventually, I developed some ideas and did a research on racial perceptions of car locking behaviors and its influences. Some interesting things were found. For instance, a white male was thought to be more likely to break into a vehicle than a black male, but a revision was needed after this information was presented at the Alabama Academy of Science. My primary purpose is to further my education within the field of psychology, so I can study animal behavior through observation and experiments. I plan to study animals full time as part of an academic or animal institution. A master’s degree from The University of West Alabama will help me accomplish
