Public Safety Characteristics

There are lots of traits within all fields of employment including Public Safety that each leader possesses; for example, charismatic, team player, etc. Furthermore, these leaders are the determination when a business, department, or agency within public or private sector either succeeds or fails; if it succeeds then there are positive outcomes (promotions, increased salaries, hiring more people) that will benefit both the leader and his/her staff, but if it fails then there are negative outcomes (layoffs, slashing salaries, replacing employees) that will tarnish both the leader and his/her staff. The author’s strengths are good listener, team builder, good communicator, and good judgment. The author’s reason of these traits is due to the combination of work, education, flexibility, and club experience. The author’s current employer is with the City of St. Pete Beach where he is not only a city employee, he is also a public servant where he put the people’s needs first then himself. Furthermore, he is obligated to make sure renters are not only satisfied, he makes sure that all rentals run smoothly; for example, wedding receptions, birthday parties, special events, and celebrations. He has worked not only with the City of St. Pete Beach at least three years, he has also worked for the City of Largo about 8 years with receiving above average in all evaluations. From this experience, he’s developed more experience in those four traits that helps him more in the future. In the education field, this author has not only continued his education after he recently graduated with his AS degree in Crime Scene Technology last December, he has developed better technique regarding Gordon rule or research papers along with critical thinking; i.e. APA sixth edition. His weaknesses are flexibility, public speaker, drive, and writing. Even though flexibility is one of his strengths, it is also a weakness depending on the degree of the situation; i.e. lack of knowledge of a certain program while he’s at work or representing the campus through SGA. The author knows that writing is not only a major component in all fields including this field, he has come a long way of bettering himself, so that his weakness in writing will eventually become his strength. Ever since elementary school, he was put into programs where students had a hard time understanding the concepts of writing, but in time through the combination of taking foreign language classes and taking full advantage of the program, he did improve his writing skills. Another weakness that the author has that all traits have in common is adapting to online classes. He had past issues with taking online classes due to a combination of miscommunication, misunderstanding of assignments, and little to no assistance from previous professors. To reinforce the author’s issue regarding online classes, utilizing an article from a source that not only focuses of their issues, he will explain further the correlations between the article’s and the author’s issue regarding online classes (Shore, n.d., para. 1). According to Shore
