Introduction
Public water fluoridation was first practiced in 1945 (Water Fluoridation and Cancer Risk). Therefore adding fluoride to water has been in practice for many years. Over the years people have wondered if fluoride is safe or even necessary. There are those that are for the addition to fluoride while many oppose water fluoridation. There have been mixed emotions about this in Georgia along with other states as well. Although some people agree with adding fluoride to water, I feel that water fluoridation has little to no benefits and should not be added to water.
Body

This is one of the reasons why most of Western Europe has ruled against fluoridation (50 Reasons to Oppose Fluoridation).
Once fluoride is put in the water it is impossible to control the dose each individual receives because people drink different amounts of water. Being able to control the dose a patient receives is critical, because some people drink more water than others (50 Reasons to Oppose Fluoridation).
Lastly, fluoridation is not necessary. Most western, industrialized countries have rejected water fluoridation, but have nevertheless experienced the same decline in childhood dental decay as fluoridated countries (50 Reasons to Oppose Fluoridation).
Conclusion
Should we be worried about fluoride in water? Fluoride has been added to water since 1945. Most of us have drank fluoridated water most of our lives. I do not feel that fluoride does any harm, but at the same time fluoride is not necessary for clean, safe water. It is just an additive that we do not need. Therefore, after the research I have done I conclude that even though fluoride is not necessarily harmful I feel there is no reason to add in
