The Pumpkin Thief It was the day before Halloween; Jason was walking down the peer near the house where he lived at. He looked down at the end of the peer it was foggy, and he couldn’t see the end of it. He slowly walked down the peer on the squeaky floorboards of the peer careful not to slip and fall in the water. He knew approximately where the peer ended but it was taking longer than usual. He finally reached the end and sat staring at the endless foggy sky in front of him not even a star was to be seen. He started to feel engulfed in a never ending blanket of pure emptiness. It felt perfect; Jason started to reflect on his day and the accomplishments he had made in that week. He was sure this was going to be a long night. To get his mind off of things he starting thinking about tomorrow. He couldn’t wait for Halloween, it was the time he bought two dozen eggs and threw them at neighbor’s houses he hated. It was also the time of year he could collect piles of free candy, by wearing the same outfit as every year. As he imagined the endless possibilities, his brain started to shut down and he fell fast asleep. The next day Jason felt like he had the best Halloween ever, because everything was going his way, he had almost finished trick or treating. He had already egged neighbor’s houses that he hated and even lit candles for those custom pumpkins he had carved. However, as Jason arrived to the last house on his block Mr. Turner’s house, he couldn’t help but notice an old sign with the date of two days ago that said pumpkins for sale only $15.99 leaning to the wall on his porch.
