A colonizer and statesman, Manuel Lorenzo Justiniano de Zavala was one of the most talented and capable of the many native Mexicans involved in Texas ' struggle for independence from Mexico. He was born in the villiage of Tecoh in what is now the state of Yucatan, Mexico, on October 3, 1789. While still in his teens, de Zavala became an ardent advocate of democratic reforms. As a result of his political activism, he was imprisoned in 1814 for three years. When released, he re-entered politics and by 1820 represented Yucatan in the Spanish Cortes in Madrid.

Juana Barraza is a serial killer in Mexico. She was born on December 27, 1958 in Hidalgo, Mexico. As a child she had a thought life. Her mother Justa Samperio an alcoholic woman would exchange her to a man called Jose Lugo for a couple of beer. Barraza was sexually abuse; as a result she became a mother at the age of 13.

On Wednesday, November 16, we watched Kaumakaiwa Kanaka’ole perform a demonstration of traditional Hawaiian hula dancing and chanting. Kaumakaiwa has dedicated her life to this passion and practice, and is considered a hula master. She considers herself an indigenous intellectual in contemporary world, as she attended Western universities, but practices traditional Hawaiian culture. This artist was raised by her grandparents, as it is traditional culture for the oldest grandchild to be given to them, in order to bridge the gap between generations. She comes from a lineage of hula that has been present for the last 800 years at least, and in current succession she is the 127th generation.
In my opinion, I think that gentrification has a more positive effect on urban communities. Gentrification seems to uproot poor communities, which are traditionally non-white, to make certain areas more suitable for wealthy people (theperspective.com). It seems that gentrification can boost the local economy in low-income areas. The money given to the community will positively increase business and community investments and this will create jobs for those unemployed. Gentrification will increase tax revenue, the population, and property values.
Introduction Locura is a culture bound syndrome that affects Latin Americans and Hispanics, regardless of where they are born, in the United States or South America (Jilek 2001:5,9). Locura has also been documented in immigrants from the Caribbean Islands (Razzouk 2011:517). In Columbia, Locura is also known as “ataques de locura” madness attacks, it is attributed to a spell known as “maleficio”. Locura is commonly associated with other culture bound syndromes thru out Central and South America, such as ataques de nervious (nervios) and possession syndromes (Piñeros 1998:1425). Definition Locura is often grouped with other mental health disorders such as schizophrenia (Jilek 2001:1-5), conversion, and dissociative disorders (Piñeros 1998:1425-8).
