Quinceanera’s are a very big tradition for Hispanics. This tradition originated in Mexico and was started by the Aztecs. It is a right of passage for young girls (age 14), going into womanhood (age 15). Young girls get to dress up like a princess and have all the attention on them for once. There's lots of preparations that is required to plan and have a Quince, but it is worth it. A Quinceanera cost from 5,000 to 20,000 dollars, so it is a great idea to start saving up early. Although this seems like lots of money, the padrinos or godparents help out. Quinceaneras are a tradition every Hispanic girl should have because it will be something that sticks with you for your whole life.
History of Quinces You may not know, but Quinceaneras started in Mexico by the Aztecs. The Aztecs had many ceremonies for different stages of people lives, but this one was the most important. Quinceanera’s were celebrated to give young women a role in society. The girl was presented with gifts from family and friends. The girls’ mother and other women would teach the girl what she had to do and how to do the right things during her life. This celebration was also to show that the girl is ready for marriage and is open to anyone. Shirley had to go through lots of preparations and hard work to have Quinceanera. On December 4, 2017 at 6:00 pm, I conducted an interview with one of my friends, Shirley Cuautli. She said it took her a whole year to plan everything out, and she wishes she started earlier because of all the stress. The reason why she only had a year to plan was because she wasn’t sure if she wanted one. It was lots of responsibility and she didn’t think she could handle it. Her mom and father talked her into having one and they planned it
