Script Although English 1A was just a little part of my high school journey, I believe that it had a prominent impact on my abilities and on me as a student overall. I discovered my love for reading and writing again. I never genuinely liked writing before but after this English class my writing skills have grown and I have found how expressing yourself with words can be so valuable. Some examples are the themes of prejudice and racial inequity. In this book, we can see many examples of prejudice and racism especially in Tom Robinson's court case and his horrifying death. This story follows the two main characters George and Lenny throughout their journey, they share a deep bond and a friendship that wasn't very common for two men back then amidst the difficulties and struggles of the Great Depression. The theme that inspired me greatly was perseverance. We can see the theme of perseverance throughout all the books we have read. In The House on Mango Street Esperanza has to persevere through all of her challenges and the hardships that she faces. In To Kill a Mockingbird Atticus knows that there's little to no chance of him being able to win the case yet he still perseveres to make this case the strongest as possible to give Tom Robinson the little fighting chance he has. The Odyssey has one of the most prominent themes of perseverance out of all the books we've read. Odysseus never once thinks about giving up because he wants to go home so badly. He inspires his crew members to keep on persevering and move no matter how many challenges they face. In the end, Odysseus does reach his goal after lots of hard work.
