IRR99 (Ionising Radiations Regulations 1999) aims at protecting the public and the health of staff working with ionising radiations. The Certificate for the Administration of Intravenous Radiopharmaceuticals by Healthcare Professionals Working in Nuclear Medicine is a document that must be used in line with procedures and policies of local department observing the IRMER regulations. This includes ensuring correct patients ID and asking whether the patient is pregnant and/or breast feeding, radiopharmaceutical and activity are correctly administered. Technologist(s) must adhere to department’s local rules and in line with IRMER when carrying out patient ID procedure. According to IRMER 2000, an individual with ARSAC certificate must sign to show that they are able to administer patients with radiopharmaceuticals. The operator is the individual administering the radiopharmaceutical and the ARSAC holder normally justify the procedure.
