Ralph Dale Earnhardt I chose Ralph Dale Earnhardt, a famous NASCAR racer who won 7 Winston cups for my research. He was born on April 29th, 1951, in a town called Kannapolis, North Carolina. He sadly died doing what he loved on the Daytona race track at the age of 49 on February 18, 2001. I chose him because I loved to watch his aggressive racing style on video clips. I decided since he was my favorite NASCAR racer that I would learn more about him. Dale’s mother was Martha Coleman and his father was Ralph Earnhardt. Dale lived in Kannapolis, North Carolina. Dale had 2 sisters and 2 brothers. They were Randy Earnhardt, Kaye Earnhardt, Cathy Earnhardt, and Danny Earnhardt. He raced for NASCAR and soon became very famous. Dale’s fans admired his aggressive racing style. Dale earned many nicknames including Iron-head, and The Man in Black, but the most famous was The Imitator. Dale won his first Winston cup on July 7th, 1990. One of his competitors said “If they had a race and every racer had to pay $200 to be in it, Dale would be the only one to show up”. A lot of things made Dale important 3 things were, NASCAR Hall of Fame, his supporting family, and his loving and caring fans. Dale loved what he did. One of Dale’s competitor but also his friend said “If I were to have a race, and everybody had to pay $200 to be in it only Dale would show up. If Dale didn’t love what he did then he wouldn’t try to win, he wouldn’t care if he lost. But it made Dale mad if he came in 2nd or any other place behind that. One of Dale’s friend said “If Dale ever ranked in a place other than 1st, you can bet on the next race he’d be 1st place. I admired Dale’s career the most. I loved the way he raced, his aggressive racing style, his good sportsmanship even though he was going to do better on the next race. I like how he never gave up if he didn’t get 1st place how he never got mad he just tried harder. Dale helped out his competitors which were also his friends, he would give them tips on how to improve
