Walt Disney had an impact on the world through media, science, and animation. When most people think of Walt Disney, they think of the creator of Mickey Mouse and Disneyland. Walt Disney’s impact went way beyond just cartoons and theme parks.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Elias and Flora Disney. He had four other siblings. They later moved to Marceline, Missouri in 1906. Walt at the age of only nine years old, had to get up at 3:30 am every day a week to fold and deliver newspaper for two hours. After delivering newspapers, he would go to grammar school. Even with all the responsibilities, Walt did not let it keep him from pursuing his dreams of drawing and doing art.
Walt Disney’s first job was at Persman- Rubin Commercial Art Studio and he met his associate and longtime friend, Ub Iwerks. In 1928, Mickey Mouse was created. Walt got the idea of Mickey Mouse from an actual pet mouse he had in Kansas City. Then Disney released Steamboat Willie and it became the most successful sound cartoon. Disney made a contract with Pat Powers at cinephone technology for the sound of Steamboat Willie.
