1. In the first paragraph, Emerson uses the stars as an example of making each experience new and accessibility. He feels that each night the stars change and it gives us different forms of beauty. Also, that we are looking at god’s city. Talking about how majestic and breathtaking the stars are. In the second paragraph, Emerson feels that we take stars for granted because they will always be with us no matter where we go. Although they are accessible because we can observe them, they are also inaccessible because their vastness makes them elusive. Emerson uses the term admonishing at the end of paragraph one because he is trying to tell us that most people don’t notice the stars or nature. When Emerson characterizes nature, he makes it grand and stunning. The reason he characterizes nature like this is so that we will take his word and go out to view and appreciate nature.

In paragraph 4, the first juxtaposition is “The sun illuminates … of the child”. This shows that a man isn’t open to new things and illuminates what he knows. On the other hand, it is saying that a child is much more open minded, and therefore much closer to nature and god. The second juxtaposition is “The lover of nature … era of manhood”. This describes how someone must be in harmony with themselves before they can be in harmony with nature. Once they achieve this, they can regain their innocence. The bigger picture is that if you are in tune with nature, you regain your innocence. When you have the viewpoint of a child, you have a higher spiritual point.
