Many rap songs talk about things that people can understand and relate to, such as love, loss, overcoming challenges. For example, the song “Love Yourz” by J. Cole talks about the importance of appreciating the things we have in life, rather than constantly seeking more. The song “I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans is a tribute to the late rapper Notorious B.I.G., and explores themes of grief and loss. Similarly, my favorite rapper MoneySign Suede’s song called “Too Late” talks about difficulties in his life, such as not graduating from school, lacking a father figure, and feeling like giving up.
