Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin, also known as the “Mad Monk” was born January

the 21st 1896 in Pokrovskoye, Russia.1 Rasputin began as a spiritual healer who later to

many became a large reason for the failure of the Romanov Dynasty in Russia, which

resulted in ending the tradition of having a royal tsarist family. Rasputin grew up in a

little village in Pokrovskoye, where very little is known about his past life. When

Rasputin was 8 his playing with his older brother Demetri, who was 12 were playing by

a river, his brother fell and later died of pneumonia. Rasputin was extremely affected

by his brother’s death at the time, and only 2 years later did he fully manage to

From a young age Rasputin was known to be sexually proficient. His

surname was changed to Rasputin which was Russian for ‘debauched one’. He had

many girlfriends and was known to be a ladies man, but in 1888 he married Praskovia

Fyodorovna Dubrovina, who he later had 3 children from Dmitri, Maria, Varvara.

Rasputin’s wife agreed to his several affairs claiming he was man enough to having
