Goldilocks and the Four Luthers It would be most odd for there to be a comparison between a professionally written book and a fictional fairytale. Incidentally, that is exactly what occurs between the stories of “Where The Lilies Bloom”, by Vera and Bill Cleaver, and “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”. In the book, “Where the Lilies Bloom”, a young girl named Mary Call Luther and her siblings, Romey, Ima Dean, and Devola Luther, struggle to support themselves through a harsh winter while striving to conceal the secret of their father’s death. However, the comparisons to be noted between these two articles do not include death, but speak on manners such as intrusion of space, the unpermitted taking of goods, and the ridding of unwanted visitors. Their may happen to be more similarities than is first realized.
During the discussion, I didn’t talk as much as I should have because for the questions that I didn’t raise my hand for I didn’t have an opinion for the discussion at hand, or at least I didn’t have a solid response that could be backed up with the text or generate more discussions among the group. For the two times that I did respond to someone’s response, I felt that I had a view worthy of being shared among my group, and this was supported when some of my peers agreed with the point I made and added their own view on top of mine. But for my second response, it was more like two responses which were included in one as a result of my wanting to respond to something that was mentioned before but that I wasn’t called on for, and for the most recent response at the time. The story closes with the image of a giggle to further convey to the reader that Mary’s mentally unstable.
I gathered a lot of evidence throughout Patrick Shanley’s play, Doubt: A Parable, and I conclude that Father Flynn is guilty due to Donald being a very easy target and Father Flynn acting is very odd ways. Donald Muller, the little boy in the story, seems to be a very easy target for a predator. Donald is very isolated in school. He does not have any friends, so he the fact that the priest would accept him would make him feel accepted in the school. Donald is also the only black boy within the entire school.
Mary Maloney is a very loving and devoted house wife and mother-to-be. Though her dream of having the perfect American family was destroyed by the bewildering news of Patrick choosing another women over Mary and their child. Innocent is all Mary Maloney is, due to her indistinct state of mind caused by her heinous husband’s decision to desert her and her child while she is unable to control her emotions due to her being pregnant. Mary is not guilty of murder instead innocent due to diminished capacity.
Killing your husband is no big deal, right? Not for Mary Maloney. A casual day is not typically when your house is turned into a murder scene. Sometimes you can’t blame people for their impulse actions; for example, Mary Maloney. Should Mary Maloney face punishment for her wrong doing?

In the short story, “Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl, the protagonist Mary Maloney proves that people shouldn't judge someone due to their physical appearances because looks can be deceiving. To begin, Mary’s persuasive appearance and personality allow her to create fake grief and innocence. As a result, she persuades the detectives into complying whatever she wants them to do, which availed her to get away with murder. In the thought provoking play, Much Ado About Nothing, a character named Don John displayed very unchristian like thoughts and actions. Throughout the play, Don John became a very jealous individual, this led him to lie multiple times, and demonstrate a dastard attitude. Don John claims himself as a trouble maker, and he doesn`t fail to disappoint. Many main characters such as Hero, Claudio, and Don Pedro were greatly affected by Don John’s deceptive plots. By making no efforts to change his displeasing habits, Don John creates unnecessary jealously, deceitfulness and a finally a fleeing coward.
The novel Rocket Boys explores the passions and perils of living in a coal mining community. Through these passions and perils conflict between individual and society arises, as Sonny has victimized himself within society by his own narcissistic attributes. Within the story Rocket Boys, Sonny must balance his desires and the ambitions of the group. Sonny’s aspirations are seen plain in the early chapters, he wants to study rockets, pursue engineering, and work for NASA. At the start, it appears his interests are opposed by the overall opinion of the community, as they regarded Sonny as either girlish, arrogant, or naive when they were made aware of his plans.

You can see this through Mary Maloney’s actions such as Mary Maloney’s love and obsession for her husband, her constant kind gestures, and the cold blooded murder of her husband. Mary Maloney loves and is obsessed with her husband you can see this when she is waiting for him to get home “ Now and again she would glance at the clock but…merely to please herself with the thought that each minute gone by made it nearer the time when he would come” Mary Maloney constantly looking up at the clock and waiting for her husband to get home is showing us the obsession she has with her husband
A division in Character William Shakespeare wrote about 37 different plays. One of these plays includes Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare he uses the tactic of character foil to show how great traits are in one person by making another having opposite attributes. Don Pedro and Don John, Don Pedro’s illegitimate brother, are great examples of character foil or opposites. The play takes place in Messina and focuses upon Don John and his schemes to ruin whatever Don Pedro, his brother, does. If Don Pedro is trying to help someone fall in love Don John will find a way to obscure the plan.
A key aspect of any novel or story is the way the characters interact and feel towards everything. In John Steinbeck’s, “Of Mice and Men”, the characters tend to give off the effect of loneliness and the feeling of isolation throughout the novel. The main characters that give off the effect of loneliness and the feeling of isolation are Curley’s wife, Crooks, and George. They’ve been truly alone, if not in mind then in body.

When examining racial identity in America, it can be said that it has become institutionalized. It shows up in our everyday life, appearing in both the sociopolitical and economic spheres of life. America has demonstrated an obsession with categorizing people on the basis of their race, and has imposed these ideas on immigrants who come to live in this country. Many immigrants, especially from Latin America, have different notions of race, and may not share the same ideas as Americans. Their opinions may vary because of many factors, such as familial or societal influence.
Flagg’s character Evelyn Couch is seen as a believable character, because the reader gets a bit of background on who she is and why she goes to the nursing home. In the novel, Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, Evelyn is described as a “forty-eight year old . . . [who] had gotten lost somewhere along the way” (37). After her children left to college Evelyn felt as if she did not know what to do with her life anymore, because before it revolved around her family and taking care of each one of them. In the late 1980’s women began to have more job opportunities; however, in Evelyn’s case she was already too old to go out and work for a company without having went to college.
