The Apollo missions were such a phenomenal feat in mankind’s ability to go above and beyond in exploration. One of the main reasons behind the Apollo missions was to be able to get a man on the moon, and bring back samples for further studies.

Through recent studies done on these samples that were recovered from the missions, scientists have been able to determine a better understanding of the moons makeup and size. The Authors determined that “On the basis of these high-resolution models, it has been estimated that 70 to 90% of the Moon is derived from Theia” (Wiechert et al. 345).
