While the US said the border of Texas was the Rio Grande River. The conflict sparked The Mexican War on May 13th, 1846. The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because Mexico invaded the US, and Mexico was interfering with the United State’s manifest destiny. The United States was justified in going to war with Mexico because Mexican soldiers brutally murdered Americans, on America’s soil.
Americans were outraged over the border dispute at the Nueces and the Rio Grande rivers, and Mexicans were irate with America’s annexation of Texas. President James K. Polk availed in the atmosphere of animosity, hurrying to place troops on conflicted land. On May 9, 1846, he found his cause for war. Mexican and American troops had engaged in combat on April 24, which led American blood spilt on contended soil. However, through all their fighting spirit, the Americans faithfully ignored their own mistreatment of the Mexicans.
It was April 25, 1846. The Mexican military invaded Texas, a disputed territory. When the U.S. military came to attack, the Mexicans killed 16 Americans. This is one of the many events leading to the Mexican American War. The Mexican-American War was a major war over Mexico’s land.
The Mexican American War started in 1846 because of Mexican resentment caused by the 1836 loss of Texas and the American’s desire for Mexico’s more northern territory. “On September 9, 1847 after two years of fighting, the Mexican American war essentially ended when the American Army captured Mexico City after the Battle of Chapultepec”( 6). The Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ended the war. United States leaders then acted morally superior in their negotiations of the treaty 1. During negotiations, United States officials viewed the “forcible incorporations” (1) of almost one half of Mexico’s land as an “event foreordained by providence and Manifest Destiny” (1).
The United States fought Mexico to get Texas and United States got Texas and that was the battle of Alamo. Mexico was angry with them because one piece of Mexico had been taken away from Unites States. Then after that battle of Alamo the United States wanted to get other parts of Mexico. The United States kept bothering Mexico to try to gain more land and Mexico became fed up with it. Mexico fought back during this time which created a lot of the wars that make up their history today.
One reason the Mexican war was justified was that it was America's manifest destiny to expand. In Document A, America claims it is their manifest destiny to expand west. President Polk Believed it was God's plan for American territories to expand west. He wanted to Expand coast to coast. He didn't just want Texas he also wanted California.
Mexico was most accountable for starting the Mexican War for many reasons. When Polk sent troops to the Rio Grande fulfilling the process of “manifest destiny” a group from Mexico began to attack the U.S troops in the warzone. The U.S was angered and were thinking war. Mexico was enraged about the annexation of Texas. Yet Mexico was still unable to compromise and make an agreement after the annexation.
Was the Mexican War Justified? When does America have the right to go to war? America had every right to go to war with Mexico because they were farming the land and wanted to do it the way they wanted. Mexico wanted to control their religion, the use of slaves and wanted them to follow their rules.
The Mexicans-American play a part of the civil war because the south and the north wanted to have a part of the land that
By establishing a treaty with Mexico without consulting the Mexican government, the United States made the situation worse. Hence, Mexico and the United States are both at fault for the Mexican-American war. First and foremost, after gaining independence from Mexico, Texas wanted annexation by the US. Texas wished to be a member of the United States, as stated by Polk in document B. Polk responded to this by setting restrictions to safeguard US residents living in Texas. Sixteen Americans were slain by the Mexican military who crossed the border.
US Justified or Not Justified War, bloodshed, trespassing, death, all this was caused by the US going to war for no reason. During this time, many interesting things happened. In 1848 the first baseball diamond was laid out in New York. Another interesting fact was that Mexico was a Catholic country, while America was a mostly Protestant country. This caused a lot of anger among the two countries.
If we never went to war with Mexico then the US would be half the size it is today and we probably wouldn 't be living here today. Some interesting facts is that people from Texas when Mexico owned were called Tejanos. They were basically Mexican Texans so they called people from Texas Tejanos which is Spanish for Texans. The Texans actually wanted to be their own country at first. They they start applying for annexation to the US.
The Mexican war began in 1846-1848 shortly after Mexico's independence in 1821, freeing itself from its mother country, Spain. Mexico was huge back in the 1830’s. It stretched out from Guatemala all the way to Oregon and it was equal to the size of The United States. Now I’m gonna give my reasons on why I think The United states was not justified in going to war with Mexico.
The American, Mexican, and French revolutions were similar and different in their own ways. There was a common cause, goal, and effect of each of these three revolutions in addition to the unique causes, goals, and effects. All of these revolutions were caused by political instability, had the common goal of political reformation that was met through revolutionary events, that resulted in the formation and adoption of a new constitution and form of government. There were many causes that led up to these three revolutions, some are shared by all three, some only by two, and some are unique causes. All three of these revolutions were caused by political instability in the country these revolutions took place in.
There were many important causes and effects of the Spanish American War. In the 1880’s the U.S. wanted to achieve manifest destiny and so they expanded out west and took control over the Native Americans. There were four different motives that the United States could’ve used to imperialize: political and military interest and economic interest were mostly with trading. Humanitarian and religious interest, to help those that you have allied with or to spread religion and the rich help those who were “under privileged.” Lastly, social darwinism, the idea that you are superior than someone else.
