The Capulets and Montagues are the most to blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet because of the rivalry. No one could let go of the long going fight from past generations into their own generation. Their parents were unable to see past the hate for one another to recognize what was happening between Romeo and Juliet. Both families were too busy trying to be better than the other family, because of this it caused them to loose their children that they loved so much. At the end they found out that fighting was useless because it only caused heartbreak and sorrow for their families. When you hold that much hate in your heart, people get hurt everywhere. If they had just given up their pride and mended things, Verona could have been a better place for everyone The second reason would be because the parents were too engaged in their anger to pay attention to what Romeo and Juliet were trying to tell them. They tried going to them and stopping all the fighting so they could just love each other but the parents would rather fight than lay down their pride and let it happen. They were too consumed trying to outdo one another to pay attention.“And where two raging fires meet together, they do consume the thing that feeds their fury.” (1,4). This one is showing that the two different sides are fires and when they meet it just causes a bigger fire and their hate consumes everything. If it was consuming love it would be something great but instead it is consuming hate and causing chaos with everything. The sad thing is, if they had just taken a second to try and see past the hate and see it Romeo and Juliet's way maybe things would have turned out differently.
