Reflection On A Retroactive Late Drop Of Chemistry

I am petitioning for a retroactive late drop of Chemistry 202 from Spring semester 2017. During the previous Spring semester I was enrolled in Chem 202, during this time enrolled in the class I found myself struggle to understand the concepts in which the professor was instructing the class on. I found myself falling behind in the class and contemplated just dropping the course so it would not affect my GPA. During this time, I also receive a “starfish notice on my email in regards to my semester standings in the class, with my grade at the time being poor I decided it would be in my best interest to just late drop the class and retake it during a later semester. I again received notice that my grade was not in good standing on the last week of the late drop period, and that is when I decided to drop the class.

After this time, I again assumed that I was no longer enrolled in the class and continued to attend all my other classes I was enrolled in during the semester. I did not realize the Chemistry class was not dropped until the last week of classes, and began to explain my situation to both my advisor and the bursar office; both of which explained that there was something to be done and it could be taken care of. That was not the case and the bursar office denied my initial claim. Stating that I needed to drop the class during the deadline and there was nothing to be done, again having dropped the course before the deadline I thought it was all taken care
