1163 Words5 Pages
This reflection paper is written on the synthesis report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which is based on the assessment accomplished by the three working groups of IPCC. The IPCC is the international body for assessing the science related to climate change. This synthesis report provides us a combined scenario of climate change as the final part of the IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report (AR4). It contains effect and causes climate change and its sensitivity, feedback and attribution. It shows the present emission scenarios and the ‘to be happened’ changes in climate and its aftermaths. It also discusses about adaptation and mitigation, sustainable development, Robust findings and some key uncertainties.
According to IPCC, Climate change is the change in the state of climate that can be identified (e.g. using statistical tests) by changes in the mean and/or variability of the properties, and persists for an extended period, typically decades or longer. There is difference between Weather and climate. Weather described in short time frame like – minutes, hours, days etc. while climate is the average pattern of long term period of weather.
As climate change is one of the most top of topics, it is known to all that temperature is increasing across the globe at an alarming rate. According to the synthesis report this increment is greater at higher northern latitudes. Average Arctic temperatures have increased at almost twice the global average rate in
