Reflection: The Super Utilizer Program

Reflection of Coaching Experience The Super Utilizer program has definitely expanded my horizons of my nursing world. The whole experience was worth the price of admission gaining knowledge of public resources that I didn’t even realize Topeka offered. However, any good journey wouldn’t be worth talking about without notable highs and lows along the way but it made the experience. As I reflect upon the work accomplished I can’t help, but have a since of pride realizing how hard I truly worked to give my client a better future. The challenges I ran into were pretty consistent throughout the experience, which was just simply making contact with my client. The first client I was assigned, I believe exchanged a total of three dialogues with me and then proceeded to ignore me all calls and texts for multiple weeks. Though the show must go on and the client was dropped from our care never to hear from her again. We were then assigned to the lovely client that we had the pleasure of meeting and providing care to. Things started off really well as we arranged back-to-back meetings with our client and accomplished a majority of our assessment. One of the lessons that I realized throughout my experience was the fact that though I’m in a position to give care not everyone is ready to make a change or address a problem. Also this experience taught me a lot about patients and how important it is to address all clients in an individualized manner and plan care that is appropriate to the individuals’ acceptance level. Also I’m a big believer in the overall message the Super Utilizer program brings to the table by keeping these people out of the ED, educating them on resources within their community, and providing resource’s to benefit them through their healthcare
