I stood next to Levi. The soft glow of the torches placed on the walls of the room illuminated my field of vision. The silence was broken by Erwin 's damaged and determined voice as he spoke to the brave souls that would soon meet hell, provided by yours truly, Levi and I, plus the Titans. I stared down at the worthy faces. Most of the top 10 decided to come to the Survey Corps. I was quite surprised, but I 'm guessing they all had a sort of connection to one another. Afterwards, everyone sat in the dining hall as we celebrated. The aroma of the food was pleasant to my nose, but my stomach disagreed. Something bad was brewing and I couldn 't quite place it. I picked at the food presented before me. I stared off into space as I started noticing every single detail in the boards of the tables. Every single line that adorned the small piece. Every single indent, indicating the wear and tear of this table. The loud chatter from the newly joined cadets seemed like only a blur. The bright faces of everyone around me were in the background. I got up silently, excusing myself as I headed to my office. My eyes were fixated onto my boots, the handmade quality astounding me. I slightly jumped as a firm hand placed itself on my shoulder. I glanced at the person and hummed in acknowledgement. "Are you okay?" "Yeah. I 'm fine. Just...thinking. I was kind of spacing out back at the table," "Oh. Okay. Hanji wanted me to check up on you. You 're like her daughter, you know?" I offer a smile. "Of course," "Well, I 'll be heading back to the table," "Okay. Tell the others that I 'm sorry for leaving suddenly.
