Junior year has been one of the hardest years in my high school career, but I have learned so much this year thanks to Mrs. Seelmeyer. I’ve enjoyed learning about the many literary movements like Modernism, Transcendentalism, Romanticism, etc. I have also enjoyed reading through the The Great Gatsby and The Scarlet Letter. One project/essay I enjoyed working on and that I felt like I tried my hardest on is my American Dream essay because I wrote about how hard work can lead yourself to do great things. But when I got that essay back, I got a 78% on it. It showed that trying my best wasn’t enough and that I need to learn how to write essays better. I need to put hard work into learning how to write good essays so the next one I write can be even better. Another section I enjoyed doing or improved at doing is looking at the literary movements. My favorite literary movement that I learned a lot from was the Dark Romanticism section. I enjoyed learning all about this topic through reading different poems and stories like Masque of the Red Death, House of Usher, The Raven, etc. But I also did enjoy learning about Romanticism while reading The Scarlet Letter. …show more content…

The Great Gatsby wasn’t too hard to read read but I just got confused with the different names and what role they played in the book but after I got to the end it all made sense. In The Scarlet Letter, What confused me the most is the old time writing. Their writing styles is nothing like what we have today and it confused me a lot. The words the author used were sometimes complex and I didn't know the definition of some of the words which made the reading very confusing.
