Texas’s Struggle for the South Texas seceded from the United States on March 2, 1861 so that they could protect, preserve and defend their beliefs. The Union was starting to deteriorate in 1820 when Missouri was admitted into the Union as a slave state, therefore creating the missouri Compromise. In the compromise it stated that to try and balance Missouri as a slave state they would admit Maine as a free state. Many find themselves wondering why Texas may have fought in the Civil War. Texas fought for the Confederacy because of love, states rights, and slavery.

A small team from El Paso,Texas embodied this ideal. In 1966, the Texas Western Miners defied all odds, and defeated the Kentucky Wildcats thereby becoming the first all African-American basketball team to win the NCAA title.

As a result, the increasing diversity has a significant impact on the political culture. Currently the Native-American population is less than one-half of percent in Texas, while during the nineteen century there were at least twenty-three groups of Native-Americans.
The Texas House of Representatives organization is one in which one hundred and fifty members compose it. Each of these members is to be elected for a two-year term. As well, each member in this position has to be a natural U.S. Citizen of the United States and must be at least 21 years of age or older. Prior to entering an election he/ she must have two complete years of been a resident of the state and one year of been a resident of the district from which they were chosen to form part. The Texas House of Representative is in charge of electing the speaker of the house, which is also known as the presiding officer.
During my experience at Texas Boys State I was able to collaborate and interact with different young men across the state whom many had various beliefs and opinions especially in politics and society. This difference in opinions showed how my perspective of the world is not the same for some other person living in Houston for example. At the time it was a little overwhelming listening to all the debates and opinions for hours but fortunately I came to respect the beliefs of others and not let my personal opinion interfere with theirs. Overall, I had a wonderful experience communicating and working with these young men from various high schools across Texas where I learned that resepct is necessary when dealing with one who belief 's are different
Political culture establishes the backdrop against which politics unfold, it establishes the outer limits of what is possible, or even probable in the political realm. Texas political culture can be described as traditionalistic and individualistic. Texas traditionalist political culture believes in the values that policies are designed to preserve social order in the state, politicians come from society’s elite, and politicians have a family obligation to govern. While on the other hand, individualistic political culture believes that government should be limited when it comes to the lives of the public, individual rights of the citizens should be the main focus of a government rule, and a stronger support of personal politics rather than elitism. Texas also has a strong populism influence.
Introduction Since its independence in 1836, Texas has had several constitutions all of which were formulated from time to time based on Texas political situation throughout its history (Maxwell et al., 2014). The Texas constitution is merely a document that provides a scope for good governance by separating and limiting the powers of each arm of the government. It does so by elaborating the function and structure of the Texan government. More importantly, the current constitution is the most notable one; first of all because it’s considered as one of the oldest constitutions in the U.S. Additionally, it’s also considered to be one of the longest documents as it has 17 articles (Coleman, 2018).
Over the Border Every year my family decides what to do for the holidays and where to go. Most of the time I have no say in it because my uncles insist on visiting or they invite us over. It doesn’t help that all of my family lives in Texas, California, and Mexico. This year has been the first time that we have spent Christmas and New Years here at home with just my family in a long time. Last year we took a long trip to Chihuahua, Mexico which is the biggest part/state of Mexico where my mother is from.
When I was 14 I had to move to San Clemente, California. I had already recently moved temporarily to Texas while a house was made ready for us on the military base. “The house is ready!” my mother had said excitedly, after being on the phone for a few minutes. “It’s time to go back?”
Raised all my life in Puerto Rico and then transferring to America was a great challenge. I had to overcome various difficulties in order to adapt to new ideas, cultures, and lifestyles. One of the obstacles I encountered was adapting to school. Since I was five my parents wanted me to imbibe the English language in order to have an exceptional future filled with opportunities, but when I arrived all my hard work in learning English did not seem to matter at my middle school. I arrived in this country thinking I was going to be in the most challenging classes and be at the top but reality smacked me in the face the first day I entered eighth grade.
My eyes automatically drifted to the tall bright palm tree that moved along with the rhythm of the wind. It’s leafs danced as they presented their welcome. The sun shined down and hugged me with warmth, giving my skin a tingling, but satisfying sensation. I had come from Virginia to California, the famous, constantly spoken of state, that finally reached my sight. The state presented its beautiful attributes to capture my wonder and mesmerization.
Alabama Trip My mom and and dad told me in December that we were going to Gulf Shores, Alabama to visit my grandparents. Gulf Shores is the southernmost town in Alabama, located on the north coast of the Gulf of Mexico. I have been there twice when I was little. I remember that I collected seashells and went swimming with Boppa in the pool.
