Personal Narrative: A World Without Humanity

When I was young, the notion of categorizing people based on their characteristics seemed truly absurd. I was annoyed by such actions as those around me started labeling me with different titles: a Chinese nerd, a feminine gay, a vegetarian weirdo and etc. Having studied in an Islamic government all boys high school, I was used to getting bullied due to my identity - a minority student who was not masculine enough. I asked for help and the bully was out of control until I realized that I am the only person who can change the situation. I stood up for myself when nobody is there for me. The realization of me having a voice shifted my perspective. I no longer tolerate people dehumanizing or de-individualizing me. I am ready to commit to my passion and studies. Knowing that it will be a tough journey, I am obstinate to study film and television. 
 A world without humanity is a world not worth living for; While, great movies, like great experiments, embody verities. I would like to combine my passion for exploring humanity and exposing to different cultures without being judgmental in my work. As Albert Einstein said, “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” I, too, believed that understanding is the key to a better world. I see movie as a form of art and communication, which enables human beings to explore ideas that they might not be exposed to during our daily life. To me, a great film enables people to shift their perspective about life and perceive things wisely. I would like to communicate with my audience through my film and to explore the meaning and big questions of life with them through characters from different backgrounds.
