On the twenty-ninth of May, 1942, Radio Prague announced that Reinhard Heydrich, Reichsprotektor of Bohemia and Moravia, was dying; assassins had wounded him fatally (The Assassination of Reinhard Heydrich). On June 6th he was reported dead. Reinhard Heydrich also known as, “The Hangman”, was one of the heinous and most brutal mass murderers in Nazi Germany. Reinhard was a high-positioning German Nazi official who was also one of the vital planners of the ‘Final Solution’ aka the Holocaust (biography.com). His protégé, Walter Schellenberg, described him as a man with “a cruel, brave, and cold intelligence.” (jewishvirtuallibrary.org). These were factors that led up to his assassination in 1942. He was attacked by agents who were ordered to assassinated (biography.com). He escaped but died later due to his critical injuries. The assassination of Reinhard Heydrich was just because he was a main architect of the Holocaust and a cold-hearted mass murderer. However, some of his supporters say he was a clever and diligent leader. Heydrich’s assassination was righteous due to his involvement with the ‘Final Solution’, widely known as the Holocaust. Hitler grieved his fallen officer as Heydrich had a ruthless diligence that is not found very often. Being a great leader and a clever one is a great asset to have in a military, however Reinhard Heydrich was a Nazi official.
