In Alma 41 he is talking to his son corriantumr who has just committed some serious sins. His way to help him repent and return to doing what is right is to teach him the true doctrine of the atonement. As Alma instructs his son, we learn many vital truths that can apply to us today. Men will be judged according to his works. The problem is this is a bad thing. 5 And men are instructed sufficiently that they know good from evil. And the law is given unto men. And by the law no flesh is justified; or, by the law men are cut off. When you are immersed in the waters of baptism you are cleaned of your sins and become a new member of God’s kingdom. This starts you on the path to returning and living with our Father in Heaven. Baptism in the third step to the Celestial Kingdom. The Fourth Article of faith is: We believe the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are First faith I the Lord Jesus Christ. Second repentance. Third baptism by immersion for the remission of sins and fourth the laying on of hands for the Gift of the Holy Ghost. This article of Faith is fundamental to all other doctrine. These are the essential steps to all others. Jesus Christ was baptized as an example to us. His example teaches us to repent and be baptized so that we can enter heaven. Baptism is required to enter heaven and that is why we do Baptisms for the dead. “Wherefore I would that ye should remember that I have spoken unto you concerning that prophet which the Lord showed unto me that should baptize the “Lamb of God” which should take away the sins of the world.” (2Nephi
